Although their sound mirrors that of late-'60s/early-'70s heavy metal bands, the Grammy Award-winning hard rock band Wolfmother was created less than a decade ago. The Australia-based group recorded their first four-track demo in 2004, and the feedback was so positive that they re-recorded the demo for official release through Modular Records. In 2005, the band released their highly anticipated self-titled album.
Over the next two years, Wolfmother toured around the world, performing at renowned music festivals such as Lollapalooza in Chicago and Rock en Seine in Paris. They dominated the Australian Recording Industry Association Awards in 2006, taking home the awards for Best Breakthrough Album, Best Rock Album, and Best Group.
Through Facebook and Twitter, the band announced that they would begin recording a new album in April 2009. Titled Cosmic Egg, the album is set to release on October 27, 2009. It’s an exciting time for Wolfmother as they begin to promote their new record and kick off an international tour. The band looks forward to joining (RED) as an official (RED)NIGHTS artist and continuing to share their unique sound with the world.
