Matisyahu is a Grammy-nominated Hasidic Jewish musician whose unique voice and powerful lyrics have earned him the top spot on Billboard's reggae albums chart. Although he is based in New York City, Matisyahu has traveled everywhere from Jerusalem to Jamaica to find inspiration for his albums.
In 2006, the artist released his Grammy-nominated album, Youth. The album spawned a Top 40 hit, "King Without a Crown,” which introduced Matisyahu as a true original, a genuine musician who sang reggae songs about his religious devotion.
Matisyahu's style is continually evolving, as evidenced by his latest album, Light, which finds the artist edging away from his comfort zone and entering into more daring territory. One of the songs from this album, a song called "One Day," is meant to be an anthem of hope. It's a prayer for peace which Matisyahu hopes will inspire people to open their hearts and stay positive during difficult times. His ability to create music that addresses relevant issues and resonates with listeners is what makes Matisyahu such a unique and successful musician.
